What KIKA keeps, and what it sends
Plain language, because it's short. Last updated 9 October 2026. This covers the KIKA AI desktop app (including company accounts), the KIKA cloud they sign in to, and this website.
On your computerYour projects stay on your drive
KIKA is a desktop app. Everything it builds is saved in a folder you choose, and its settings, sign-in session and any API keys you add are stored in the app's data folder (Documents/KIKA AI). KIKA keeps no copy of your projects anywhere else. Uninstall the app and delete that folder to remove everything.
Signing inYour Google name and email — kept on your machine
When you sign in with Google, Google tells the KIKA cloud your email address, name and profile picture (the standard "openid email profile" permission — nothing else in your Google account). The cloud turns that into a signed session that lasts 30 days and hands it back to your app, which stores it locally. The KIKA cloud has no account database: it does not store your details.
Using the AIWhat leaves your computer
An AI can only work on code it can see. Each time you use an AI feature, KIKA sends what that request needs:
- Building or editing: your prompt and the project files relevant to it.
- Ghost text: the code around your cursor.
- Ctrl+I edits: the code you selected and your instruction.
- Project search (indexing): pieces of your project's code, to build a search index that is saved on your computer.
Without your own API keys, these go through the KIKA cloud (hosted by Vercel in the United States) to the model provider: Google (Gemini models) or OpenRouter (which forwards to the company behind the model you picked). The KIKA cloud passes requests on and does not store or log their contents. It keeps a short-lived, in-memory count of requests per account to enforce fair use, and the hosting provider keeps standard request logs (time, address, status — no prompts or code).
The providers' own terms apply to what they receive. KIKA's free models run on free tiers, and free-tier providers may keep and use requests to improve their models — see Google's Gemini API terms and OpenRouter's privacy policy. Don't send passwords, keys or anything you wouldn't paste into a public chatbot.
If you add your own API keys, requests for those models go straight from your computer to that provider instead, under your agreement with them.
Everything elseNo ads, no tracking, no selling
KIKA does not show ads, sell data, or send usage analytics to us or to Microsoft. This website uses no analytics or tracking cookies. Extensions you install in the editor come from Open VSX, under its own terms. If you buy a paid plan once those are available, payment is handled by Razorpay; KIKA never sees your card details.
KIKA is not meant for children under 13, and a Google account is required to sign in.
